On Saturday 9th May, 1987, as the result of information I kept
observation on the premises of 12 Strickland Court, a first
floor flat situated in Fenwick Road, SE15.
[Undisclosed material]
At 3.45 p.m. a male who I now know as Panos KOUPPARIS came out
of the premises and got into a red Morris motor vehicle, Index
No: KMX 463P. This vehicle was driven off by KOUPPARIS who
was wearing a dark suit, trilby hat and sunglasses.
[Undisclosed material]
On 11th May, 1987, I again kept observation at 12 Strickland
Court, Fenwick Road, SE15, and at 12.55 p.m. I saw KOUPPARIS
come out of the flat and walk along East Dulwich Road towards
a parade of shops. I saw KOUPPARIS enter the Post Office where
he appeared to speak to the counter assistant and buy Cigarettes.
He was wearing a dark grey suit, a trilby hat and he was wearing
a glove on his left hand.
[Undisclosed material]
After visiting the shop he returned to 12 Strickland Court
and went indoors and remained there throughout the rest of
the day.
[Undisclosed material]
On Thursday 14th May, 1987, at 11.35am I was directed to keep
observation in Park Street, W1, the premises of the Cyprus
Embassy at No 93 Park Street. On arrival I saw a blue Mercedes
Index No NLW 16OV parked outside these premises and this vehicle
contained only the driver.
[Undisclosed material]
At 11.40 am I saw the man I know as KOUPPARIS walk down the
steps of the Cypriot Embassy and walk towards this vehicle.
I, together with DS Ayres, ran along Park Street and we were
then joined by Detective Constables MADDEN and MARTIN. DS AYRES
and DC MADDEN approached KOUPPARIS who was wearing a trilby
hat, sunglasses, grey raincoat and a black glove on his left
hand. I went to the driver's door of the Mercedes car, told
the driver who I was and took the car keys. As the result
of a conversation with the driver, Mr Peter O'Neill, he indicated
a brown briefcase which was lying in the passenger footwell
of the vehicle. I opened the passenger door and took possession
of this brief case and I then went to a police vehicle parked
behind the Mercedes. In the police vehicle was the prisoner
KOUPPARIS accompanied by DC MADDEN and I handed this briefcase
to DC MADDEN indicating to him that it belonged to KOUPPARIS.
This briefcase is now Exhibit NP/669 and I have signed the
exhibit label identifying it as such.
