I have lived at the above address all my life. At the end of
March or the beginning of April this year I was in Shaftesbury
Avenue W1 with my friends - Jake CLENNEL, Sofie THOMPSON
and Charllotte CRIPPS. It was about 3 am and we noticed
a man looking in a computer shop. Jake or me said words
to the effect "Don't look in there too long, you could die
of radiation poisoning". The man asked if we had a spare
cigarette and we said "No". We walked slowly away and joined
us. He asked if we would like to go back to his hotel for
a drink. We agreed and we all got into a taxi. We then went
to the White House Hotel which is near Great Portland Street.
I'm not sure if we were in the taxi or had arrived at the
hotel when one of us asked him his name and he said it was
Commander NEMO. I thought it was odd but didn't say anything.
At the hotel we were about to go to his room when a member

of the hotel staff stopped us and we had to sit in the lounge
area. NEMO ordered some sandwiches and drinks for us. After
we had finished the food and drinks he asked if we would
like to have a drive around London. We agreed we would and
he drove us around in a red Sierra. He later dropped Charlotte
and me at my house and Jake and Sofie at theirs.

Later that day I was at Jake's house and Nemo either phoned
while I was there or had phoned earlier. but anyway, he wanted
to see us. So all four of us went over to the White House
Hotel by taxi. I should say at this point out that Nemo
had told Jake on the telephone that when we got to the White
House Hotel we should ask for Mr Edwards. When we arrived
I saw a porter putting a lot of plastic bags with 'Burtons'
on into his car. He was paying his bill and afterwards we
got into his car. He then told us he had been asked to leave
the hotel because of a dispute. We then all went to a chinese
restaurant in Knightsbridge for a meal, which he paid for.
He told us that he had a number of ideas which he had for
us including forming a band and some other ideas of his,
none of which we took seriously. After the meal we eventually
finished up at a night club called 'Heaven'. A little later
Nemo said he was tired and gave us three (3) £50 notes to
stay and have a good time. Jake, Charlotte and I stayed
in the club and he and Sofie left. we stayed at the club
for a while longer and then went home.

The following day Jake told me Nemo had phoned and we were

to meet him in Covent Garden. We, thats Jake, Charlotte,
a girl named Katie and me, met up with Nemo and he drove us
to the Inter-Continental Hotel where he'd booked in. We went
into the bar and we were introduced to a number of people.
One was a young man named Jason who was about eighteen, Nemo
said he was a friend who was at the Imperial College and
another who was a Burtons Salesman in the Brixton Store.
There was also two other men in the company. They were in
their late twenties and really 'flashy' in their dress. At
this time we still referred to 'Nemo' as 'NEMO'. At one
stage he and Jake went to make a phone call and one of us
asked the others what NEMO's real name was and they laughed.
I remember the flashy dressed men told me they were designers
for C & A and Burtons and other big stores. they were Greek
looking and appeared to have plenty of money. A little later
we all went to Browns night club which is near Long Acre.
We stayed in the club until it closed and went home by taxi.

Later that morning I went on holiday to Italy with Charlotte
and some family friends. we were away for a week and I can't
remember when it was but I again met Nemo at the Inter Conti-
nental Hotel. I was with Jake, Sofie and Charlotte. With
Nemo was his wife and a little girl, also with these was
an Indian looking man whose name I can't remember. His wife
called Nemo 'PAN' and he told us his real name was Panos
KOUPPARIS. He showed us his passport and some credit cards,
which were out of date. He also showed us a brochure about

an investment company called Futura Investments Ltd and gave
me a business card (which I produce as Exhibit BGK/1). A
little later we went to Browns Club again, the little girl
had been left with her mother, who I didn't see. The Indian
man told me he was a photographer. We left the club before
closing time and went home.

I forgot to mention that when we got back from holiday and
prior to meeting his wife, we had met him in Covent Garden
and he took us to an hotel. I can't remember the name of
it, where we met up with two middle age Cypriot men. I was
introduced to them but I can't remember their names. We
had some drinks and we left the hotel to go, as we thought
to a club. when we were outside the hotel we got into the
Cypriots convertible, cream Rolls Royce car and Panos followed
behind in his car. We were driven to an address in St Johns
Wood. I don't know the address but I could find it again.
We felt a bit uncomfortable in this mans penthouse and made
excuses to leave. The next time I saw Panos was at the Inter-
Continental as I have just described.

About three days later I went with Jake, Sofie and Charlotte
to meet him in Covent Garden for a sound check. He took us
in his car together with his wife and daughter to an address
in Peckham. this was after was had picked up a woman who
was a half-caste. We went into this room and met a man named
Jimmy SPARKLE. We took it in turns to sing and I played
the bass guitar. When we left Panos took us back to Covent

Garden. We didn't see him for a long time and we met him,
after he'd phoned up, at Covent Garden. It was Easter Monday
and he was alone. I was with Jake, Sofie and Charlotte and
Ian. We had something to eat in the Kentucky Fried Chicken
in Shaftesbury Avenue then we went home. I can't remember
the exact occasions but a number of times he mentioned he
was going to get 9 (nine) million pounds. He didn't say
where it was coming from and I didn't ask. I would describe
Nemo (Panos) as about 5'8" tall, medium build, he has a large
nose, greek complexion and a round face. He had very dark
hair which was very thin on top. A lot of the time he wore
dark glasses and once or twice he wore a trilby hat.
[Undisclosed material]
I now remember the name of the hotel Panos took us to when
we came back from holiday, it was the Churchill.

Further to my statement dated 19th May 1987. On the occasions
I met KOUPPARIS with his wife, as I mentioned previously
I would call him by the same name. He told me to call him
'Pan' when in front of his wife. There was no noticeable
reaction from his wife.
I was present throughout the above interview.
