TOP TORY SYMPATHETIC: Top British Tory and Minister of Defence Michael Portillo was the guest of honour at a recent barbecue at the London home of Chris and Maria Joseph, along with about 70 members of the Greek Cypriot community.
        Maria Joseph is the current president of the Conservative Party Association for Hadley Wood / Cockfosters.
        Portillo, widely tipped as a future Conservative Party leader, is highly aware of the Cyprus problem and was said to be extremely sympathetic towards the Cyprus problem.
        He pledged to renew his discussions with the Foreign secretary with the aim of ensuring that Britain will play a decisive positive role in ensuring the principles of the United Nations constitutional plan will apply for the whole of Cyprus.
